About
“Peace is not the absence of chaos or conflict, but rather finding yourself in the midst of that chaos and remaining calm in your heart.” — John Mroz
About
Hi, I’m Leah! I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker with over eight years of experience supporting children and families in child-welfare and outpatient settings.
I have a special interest in supporting individuals impacted by foster care and interracial adoption, as well as those seeking to better understand their relationship with money and build a greater sense of financial well-being.
Some Things We Can Work on Together
- Adoption: Exploring racial identity, navigating feelings of belonging, building relationships, and understanding attachment patterns.
- Child welfare and foster care: Processing court-ordered placements and services, family dynamics, changes in caregivers, and permanency.
- Financial wellness: Exploring family messages about money, anxiety around spending or saving, financial changes, and the connection between money, self-worth, and security.
- Mind-body connection: Exploring how anxiety, depression, and emotional stress can show up in the body. Using holistic, body-based techniques such as breathwork, tapping, movement, and mindfulness to support emotional regulation and ease stress-related physical tension and discomfort.
- Life transitions: Navigating life after high school or college, changes in income or family dynamics, shifts in intimate relationships.
My Approach to Therapy
My approach is collaborative, holistic, and practical. We’ll explore underlying patterns while building tools you can use in everyday life. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Somatic Therapy to help you navigate emotions and develop healthy coping skills.
We all have different parts of ourselves, each with its own feelings, needs, and ways of protecting us. Therapy is a space to explore these different parts with curiosity and compassion, better understand yourself, and find more balance when parts of you feel pulled in different directions. You don’t have to figure it all out alone; we can make sense of it together.
Getting Started
I offer in-person and telehealth sessions for clients in New York, Monday through Thursday, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
When you’re ready to better understand yourself, navigate life’s challenges, or build a greater sense of balance and security, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can work toward greater connection and peace, even when life feels chaotic.
