Rooted Hearts Center for Grief & Loss

Healing Doesn’t Mean Forgetting. It Means Learning to Carry Love and Loss Together.

Grief changes us.

Whether you’ve lost someone you love, experienced a miscarriage, ended a relationship, received a life-changing diagnosis, or watched your life unfold differently than you imagined, loss can leave you feeling overwhelmed, isolated, angry, numb, or unsure of who you are now.

At the Rooted Hearts Center for Grief & Loss, we believe there is no “right way” to grieve and no timeline for healing. Our role is not to help you “move on,” but to help you move forward while honoring what has been lost.

Our clinicians provide compassionate, evidence-based, trauma-informed care for individuals, couples, families, and children experiencing all forms of grief and life transitions.

We Specialize In

Death of a Loved One

Support following the death of a spouse, partner, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, friend, or other significant person.

Pregnancy & Infant Loss

Compassionate counseling following miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, ectopic pregnancy, failed fertility treatment, selective reduction, or termination for medical reasons.

Child Loss

The death of a child changes every part of life. Our clinicians provide specialized support for bereaved parents navigating profound grief while honoring their child’s memory.

Anticipatory Grief

Preparing emotionally for the expected death of a loved one due to terminal illness, dementia, or progressive disease.

Caregiver Grief

Supporting caregivers experiencing emotional exhaustion, anticipatory loss, complicated family dynamics, and grief before and after caregiving ends.

Divorce & Relationship Loss

The end of a marriage, engagement, friendship, or significant relationship can create grief that deserves acknowledgment and support.

Traumatic Loss

Healing after sudden, unexpected, or violent deaths, including accidents, suicide, homicide, overdoses, or other traumatic events.

Pet Loss

Our pets are family. We provide compassionate care for those grieving the loss of beloved animal companions.

Life Transition & Identity Loss

Grief can accompany retirement, infertility, empty nest, chronic illness, disability, loss of independence, financial hardship, career changes, relocation, or the life you imagined but never had.

Complicated & Prolonged Grief

For individuals whose grief remains intense, persistent, or significantly interferes with daily life, we offer specialized interventions designed to support healing while honoring continued bonds with loved ones.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Grief is deeply personal. There is no formula for healing, which is why every treatment plan is individualized to your story, your relationships, and your unique way of grieving.

Depending on your needs, therapy may include:

  • Grief-informed psychotherapy
  • Complicated Grief Therapy (CGT) principles
  • Meaning Reconstruction Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy
  • Attachment-Based Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for traumatic loss
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed interventions
  • Somatic and nervous system regulation techniques
  • Mindfulness and self-compassion practices
  • Family grief counseling
  • Child and adolescent grief interventions
  • Memory preservation and legacy-building activities
  • Ritual development and continuing bonds work
  • Psychoeducation regarding the grieving process

Our clinicians understand that grief affects the mind, body, relationships, identity, and sense of safety. Therapy provides a place where every emotion—from sadness and guilt to anger, relief, confusion, or even moments of joy—is welcomed without judgment.

There Is No Wrong Way to Grieve

Grief doesn’t follow stages or deadlines. Some days feel manageable. Others can feel impossible. Healing isn’t about forgetting—it is about finding ways to continue living while carrying love for what has been lost.

Whether your loss happened yesterday or twenty years ago, you deserve support that honors your story.

At Rooted Hearts, we walk beside you as you discover that while grief changes your life forever, it doesn’t have to define the rest of it.
